How to Use a Projector for Golden Week Camping | Complete Guide to Creating an Outdoor Cinema

🏕️ Make your camping nights extra special. With one compact projector, you can create a 100-inch cinema under the stars. Setup takes only 10 minutes, and you only need five items.

What you need for an outdoor cinema

✅ Camping Checklist

  • Projector (Aestiquo Q1・X26 recommended)
  • Power source: Portable power station or campsite AC power
  • Screen alternative: White tent, tarp, or portable screen
  • Content: DVD player, Fire TV Stick, or smartphone mirroring
  • Sound: Bluetooth speaker (built-in speaker also acceptable)
  • Insect repellent: Insect repellent spray, mosquito coils

Choosing a setup location

Utilize tents and tarps

Project onto the white outer wall of a tent or a tarp. Easily create a large screen without needing a dedicated screen. A taut tarp will minimize image distortion.

🌳

Hang a screen between trees

Secure a white sheet or portable screen to trees with rope. At a distance of 2-3m, you can get an 80-100 inch large screen.

🚐

Project onto a car body

If you have a white or silver car, you can project directly onto the car body. This style utilizes the campsite parking space.

⚠️ Some campsites have noise regulations at night. Be mindful of your surroundings when adjusting volume. Bluetooth earphones allow you to enjoy movies late into the night.

Setup procedure

Decide on projection surface and distance

Choose your projection surface from a tent, tarp, or screen, and set the projector distance to 1.5-3m. The Q1 and X26 can project approximately 60 inches at 1.5m and about 120 inches at 3m.

Place the projector on a stable surface

Set it on a stable surface such as a camping table, tripod, or directly on the ground. Adjust the angle freely with the X26's 180° rotating stand or the Q1's 270° rotating stand.

Connect the power

Connect to a portable power station (AC output compatible) or the campsite's AC power. The Q1 and X26 consume approximately 38-50W, so a portable power station with over 200Wh capacity can provide 3-4 hours of movie viewing.

Adjust focus and keystone correction

Turn on the power and adjust the focus. The X26 has electric focus controllable by remote. Use keystone correction to adjust the image into a rectangle. For details, refer to the Keystone Correction Guide.

Connect content and play

Select content from a DVD player (HDMI connection), Fire TV Stick (HDMI connection), or smartphone mirroring. Since Wi-Fi is often unavailable at campsites, DVDs or pre-downloaded content are recommended.

Enhance sound with a Bluetooth speaker

The Q1 supports Bluetooth 5.3 and the X26 supports Bluetooth 5.3. Connect to an outdoor waterproof speaker to enjoy powerful sound outdoors.

Tips for outdoor viewing

🌙 Best start time is 30 minutes after sunset

The darker your surroundings, the clearer the image will be for outdoor projection. The period 30 minutes to 1 hour after sunset offers the best balance of image visibility and ambient temperature. Even with the high-brightness design of the Q1 and X26, viewing after it's completely dark provides the most beautiful experience.

🦟 Don't forget insect repellent

Insects are attracted to projector light, so insect repellent is essential. In addition to mosquito coils and insect repellent spray, placing an insect repellent lantern around the projector will be effective.

🔋 How to choose a portable power station

Capacity Approximate operating time Recommended use
200Wh Approx. 3-4 hours 1-2 movies, short camping trips
500Wh Approx. 8-10 hours 1-night camping, multiple devices simultaneously
1000Wh+ All-day use 2+ nights camping, group camping

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

What should I do if there's no AC power at the campsite?
Please use a portable power station (AC output compatible). The Q1 and X26 consume approximately 38-50W, so a portable power station with over 200Wh capacity can provide enough power for 2-3 movies.
Will the image look good without a screen?
You can still enjoy it sufficiently by projecting onto a white tent or tarp without a dedicated screen. However, the image may be distorted if the surface is uneven. For a clearer image, we recommend using a portable screen (sold separately).
How can I enjoy content at a campsite if there's no Wi-Fi?
We recommend connecting a DVD player (Aestiquo PD102・PD141) via HDMI, or mirroring content by pre-downloading it to your smartphone. A Fire TV Stick can be used in combination with a mobile Wi-Fi router.
Will the projector be damaged by dew or moisture?
Since the Q1 and X26 are not outdoor waterproof, direct rain and condensation should be avoided. Place them under a tarp or in a location where they won't be exposed to rain or dew, and store them in a dry place after use.
