How to Use a Projector for Golden Week Camping | Complete Guide to Creating an Outdoor Cinema

⛵️ Make your camp nights extra special. With just one compact projector, you can create a 100-inch movie theater under the stars. Setup takes only 10 minutes, and you only need five things to get started.

What you need for an outdoor movie theater

✅ Camping Checklist

  • Projector (Aestiquo Q1・X26 recommended)
  • Power source: Portable power station or campsite AC outlet
  • Screen alternative: White tent, tarp, or portable screen
  • Content: DVD player, Fire TV Stick, or smartphone mirroring
  • Audio: Bluetooth speaker (built-in speaker can also be used)
  • Insect repellent: Insect repellent spray, mosquito coils

Choosing a setup location

⛺️

Utilize tents and tarps

Project onto the white exterior wall of a tent or a tarp. This easily creates a large screen without the need for a dedicated screen. A tarp stretched flat will minimize image distortion.

🌳

Hang a screen between trees

Secure a white sheet or portable screen to trees with rope. At a distance of 2-3 meters, you can get a screen up to 100 inches.

🚐

Project onto a car body

If you have a white or silver car, you can project directly onto the car body. This style utilizes your campsite parking space.

⚠️ Some campsites have noise regulations at night. Please be mindful of your surroundings when it comes to volume. You can still enjoy movies late at night by using Bluetooth earphones.

Setup procedure

Decide on the projection surface and distance

Choose your projection surface from a tent, tarp, or screen, and set the distance to the projector at 1-3 meters. The Q1 and X26 can project approximately 60 inches at 1.5m and approximately 120 inches at 3m.

Place the projector on a stable surface

Set up the projector on a stable surface such as a camping table, tripod, or directly on the ground. The X26's 180° rotating stand and the Q1's 270° rotating stand allow for free angle adjustment.

Connect the power

Connect to a portable power station (with AC output) or the campsite's AC power. The Q1 and X26 consume approximately 38-50W, so a portable power station with a capacity of 200Wh or more can provide up to 4 hours of movie viewing.

Adjust focus and keystone correction

Turn on the power and adjust the focus. The X26 has electric focus that can be operated with a remote control. Use keystone correction to straighten the image into a rectangle. For details, refer to the Keystone Correction Guide.

Connect and play content

Select content from a DVD player (HDMI connection), Fire TV Stick (HDMI connection), or smartphone mirroring. Since Wi-Fi is often unavailable at campsites, DVDs or pre-downloaded content are recommended.

Enhance audio with a Bluetooth speaker

The Q1 supports Bluetooth 5.3, and the X26 supports Bluetooth 5.3. Connecting to an outdoor waterproof speaker allows for powerful sound even outdoors.

Tips for outdoor viewing

🌙 30 minutes after sunset is optimal for starting

For outdoor projection, the darker your surroundings are, the clearer the image will be. 30 minutes to 1 hour after sunset is the best time for both image visibility and comfortable temperature. Even with the high-brightness design of the Q1 and X26, viewing after it's completely dark will provide the clearest and most enjoyable experience.

🧹 Don't forget insect repellent measures

Insects are easily attracted to the light from projectors, so insect repellent is essential. In addition to mosquito coils and insect repellent spray, placing an insect repellent lantern around the projector is effective.

🔋 Choosing a portable power station

Capacity Estimated operating time Recommended use
200Wh Approx. 3-4 hours 1-2 movies, short camping trips
500Wh Approx. 8-10 hours Overnight camping, simultaneous use of multiple devices
1000Wh or more All-day use possible 2+ nights, group camping
