How to Connect a DVD Player to a Projector via HDMI | The Complete Setup Guide for Big Screen Enjoyment

Aiden Tsang
🎬 Just connect your DVD player to a projector via HDMI, and your small 10-inch screen transforms into a large screen of 100 inches or more. The connection is completed with a single cable and three setup steps.

What you need for connection

✅ Pre-connection Checklist

  • DVD player with HDMI output (e.g., Aestiquo PD102, PD141, PD156)
  • Projector with HDMI input (e.g., Aestiquo Q1, P1, X26)
  • HDMI cable (1.5m to 2m recommended, sold separately)
  • DVD disc you want to play
  • Power supply (for DVD player and projector, respectively)
⚠️ The Aestiquo PD101 does not have an HDMI output terminal. For large screen projection, please use the PD102, PD141, or PD156, which support HDMI output.

Steps for HDMI Connection

Check the HDMI output port on your DVD player

Locate the "HDMI OUT" port on the side or back of the PD102, PD141, or PD156. The port shape is Type-A (standard HDMI).

Check the HDMI input port on your projector

Locate the "HDMI IN" port on the Q1, P1, or X26. If there are multiple HDMI ports, either can be used.

Connect both devices with an HDMI cable

Connect from the DVD player's "HDMI OUT" → HDMI cable → to the projector's "HDMI IN". Insert firmly until it clicks.

Turn on both devices

Start the projector first, then turn on the DVD player. While it will work in reverse order, starting the projector first tends to be more stable.

Switch the projector input to HDMI

Press the "Input Select" or "SOURCE" button on the remote control and select "HDMI". The DVD player's video will be displayed on the projector.

Insert and play the DVD

Insert the disc into the DVD player and press the play button. Video playback on the large screen will begin.

Audio Settings after Connection

With an HDMI connection, both video and audio are transmitted simultaneously. Audio will be output from the projector's built-in speakers. If you want to enjoy a more immersive sound experience, connect a wireless speaker via the projector's Bluetooth function or an external speaker via the 3.5mm earphone jack.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Can I connect the PD101 to a projector via HDMI?
The Aestiquo PD101 does not have an HDMI output port, so it cannot be connected to a projector via HDMI. If you wish to use an HDMI connection, please choose the PD102, PD141, or PD156.
What length of HDMI cable should I use?
Choose a length that matches the distance between your DVD player and projector. For typical home use, 1.5m to 2m is convenient. For longer cables (5m or more), the signal may degrade, so we recommend using the shortest possible cable.
After connecting, where does the audio come from?
With an HDMI connection, both video and audio are transmitted simultaneously, so the audio will be output from the projector's built-in speakers. The Q1 supports Bluetooth 5.3, so you can also connect a wireless speaker for a more immersive sound experience.
What does "region-free" mean?
DVDs have region codes, and discs with incompatible codes cannot be played. Region-free DVD players (Aestiquo PD102, PD141, PD156) can play DVDs from all over the world.
Which should I turn on first, the projector or the DVD player?
We recommend starting the projector first. When the DVD player is powered on after the projector has started, the projector is more likely to automatically recognize the HDMI signal.
