How to set up your projector to project clearly even when projecting at an angle | Aestiquo Q1/P1 Practical Guide

Why Angled Projection Distorts Images
When a projector shines light onto a screen from an angle, the light travels different distances to various parts of the screen (left, right, top, bottom), causing the image to appear trapezoidal. This is an unavoidable optical phenomenon, but it can be corrected digitally using the keystone correction function.
📐 Vertical Distortion
Occurs when projecting from a vertically offset position. Can be resolved with the keystone correction button on the remote.
⇔️ Horizontal Distortion
Occurs when projecting from a horizontally offset position. Can be resolved by repositioning the main unit horizontally or using a model with 4-point correction.
🔄 Both Distortions Simultaneously
Occurs when projecting from an upward and horizontally offset position. A model with 4-point correction is most effective.
Three Approaches for Clear Projection Even with Angled Setup
Approach ①: Optimize the Installation Position
The method with the least impact on image quality is to strive for an installation that minimizes the projection angle.
| Installation Situation | Approximate Angle | Impact on Image Quality |
|---|---|---|
| Front Setup | 0° | Minimal (Ideal) |
| Slight Angle | 5°〜15° | Virtually no impact |
| Moderate Angle | 15°〜30° | Slight image degradation after correction |
| Large Angle | 30° or more | Increased correction leads to noticeable image degradation |
Approach ②: Utilize the 270° Rotating Stand
The 270° rotating stand of Aestiquo Q1 and P1 allows for various installation angles (ceiling, wall, floor) while minimizing the amount of keystone correction needed.
🏠 Floor-standing Front Projection
Place the stand on the floor and point it at the front wall. This is the most basic setup and does not require keystone correction.
⬆️ Ceiling Projection
Set it to face the ceiling by rotating 270°. Enjoy movies while lying down on the floor.
📺 Downward Projection from a High Position
Place it on a shelf or bookcase and project downwards. Fine-tune with vertical keystone correction.
Approach ③: Use Keystone Correction Correctly
Set up the projector and turn it on
Set it up facing the desired wall or screen. Place it within the recommended projection distance.
Check the direction of distortion
If the top edge is wider, it's due to angled projection from above; if the bottom edge is wider, it's due to angled projection from below.
Adjust with the keystone correction button on the remote
Adjust the distortion with the ± buttons. Fine-tune until all four corners are right angles, while viewing the image from the front.
If horizontal distortion remains, reposition the unit horizontally
Vertical keystone correction only handles vertical distortion. Horizontal distortion can be resolved by repositioning the main unit horizontally or using a model with 4-point correction.

Scenario ①: Placing the Projector in a Room Corner
When placing the projector in a room corner and projecting onto the front wall, horizontal misalignment may occur.
- Solution: Reposition the projector unit horizontally (vertical correction cannot fix horizontal distortion)
- Use the P1's 4-point correction function to simultaneously correct horizontal distortion
- Reduce the projection distance to decrease the angle
Scenario ②: Projecting Downward from a Shelf
- Solution: Set up the projector facing downward using the 270° rotating stand
- Fine-tune vertical distortion with vertical keystone correction
- Adjust the distance so the center of the screen aligns with the shelf height
Scenario ③: Ceiling Projection (Viewing while Lying on the Floor)
- Solution: Set up the projector facing the ceiling using the 270° rotating stand
- Adjust the distance so the image appears in the center of the ceiling
- Achieve a perfect image with just fine-tuning using vertical keystone correction
