Projector Not Displaying via HDMI: Causes and Solutions | Complete Guide to Input Switching, Cables, and Settings Troubleshooting

First Check: 80% of Display Issues Are Due to These 3 Things
| Check Item | Symptom | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| ① Input Source Switching | Screen shows "No Signal" or is black | Switch input to HDMI with the remote |
| ② HDMI Cable Connection | No video or intermittent disconnections | Unplug and reconnect, or try a different cable |
| ③ Power-On Sequence of Connected Devices | Not recognized on startup | Turn on projector first, then connected device |
8 Solutions for Different Causes
Projectors have multiple input ports (HDMI1, HDMI2, AV, USB, etc.). If the connected HDMI port and the selected input source do not match, no video will be displayed.
Solution: Press the "Input Switch", "Source", or "INPUT" button on the remote and select the connected HDMI port (HDMI1 or HDMI2). Aestiquo P1 and Q1 can be easily switched using the Source button on the remote.
Poor contact or a broken HDMI cable is a very common cause. Inexpensive or old cables are particularly prone to internal breaks, and may not output video even if they look fine externally.
Solution: Completely unplug the cable and reconnect it. If it still doesn't work, try a different HDMI cable. We recommend using an HDMI cable that supports High Speed (Category 2).
Depending on the power-on sequence of the projector and connected devices (PC, DVD player, Fire TV, etc.), the HDMI signal may not be recognized correctly.
Solution: Try turning on the power in this order: ① Projector ON first → ② Connected device ON. If you used the reverse order, turn both devices OFF first, then try again.
When connecting a PC via HDMI, video may not be displayed if the PC's display output settings or resolution are not compatible with the projector.
Solution (Windows): Right-click on the desktop → "Display settings" → Under "Multiple displays," select "Duplicate" or "Extend." Set the resolution to 1920×1080 (1080p).
Solution (Mac): Go to System Settings → "Displays" → Check if the external display is recognized. If not, click "Detect Displays."
Video may not be displayed due to HDCP (copyright protection technology) compatibility issues. This is especially likely to occur when connecting via old HDMI cables or unsupported HDMI splitters/switches.
Solution: If you are using an HDMI splitter or switch, remove it and connect directly. Use HDCP2.2 compatible cables and devices.
Temporary software glitches can sometimes prevent video from being displayed.
Solution: Completely power OFF the projector, wait 30 seconds, then power it ON again. Aestiquo P1 and Q1, which have Android TV, also allow you to select "Restart" from the settings menu.
When connecting a DVD player via HDMI, the issue can sometimes be caused by the DVD player's output settings.
Solution: Check the video output settings from the DVD player's menu and confirm that HDMI output is enabled. For HDMI connection methods for Aestiquo PD102 and PD141, please also refer to the DVD Player and Projector HDMI Connection Guide.
If the HDMI connector is physically bent or the port is clogged with dust, poor contact will occur.
Solution: Remove any deformed connectors or dust with an air duster. If there is damage, please contact manufacturer support.
Checklist If It Still Doesn't Work
✅ Final Checklist
- Switched input source to HDMI1/HDMI2
- Replaced the HDMI cable with a different one
- Turned on the power in the order of projector → connected device
- Set PC resolution to 1920×1080
- Removed HDMI splitter/switcher and connected directly
- Restarted the projector
- Tried a different HDMI port (HDMI1 ↔ HDMI2)
- Tried a different connected device (smartphone, another PC)
If none of the above resolves the issue, the HDMI port on the projector itself may be faulty. For Aestiquo products, please contact us via the support page.
